Why it matters
What a licence means — and what it does not.
What it means
- The device is authorized for sale in Canada for its indications for use.
- An identifiable Canadian licence holder is responsible for the device.
- The holder has obligations, including mandatory problem reporting.
- Your insurers and professional colleges can verify it.
What it does not mean
- It is not an endorsement of every marketing claim a seller makes.
- It does not guarantee any clinical outcome.
- It does not replace scope of practice or training.
- It does not apply to other countries.
Is Alexa CO₂ “approved” by Health Canada?
The accurate term is “licensed”. Alexa holds Medical Device Licence 114909, Class III. A licence authorizes the device for sale in Canada; it is not an endorsement of every marketing claim.
Is Alexa CO₂ cleared in the United States?
This site makes no regulatory claim outside Canada. For other jurisdictions, ask the Pro 1 Laser team for regulatory documentation.
Why Class III?
In Canada, active devices that deliver potentially hazardous energy to tissue — such as medical lasers — are generally Class III. The class reflects risk level, not device quality.
Does the licence cover every treatment?
No. The licence covers the device and its indications for use. Every treatment must also fit the provider’s scope of practice, provincial regulation and clinical judgment.
